    * Docents complete an Introductory Museum Docent Training Course and study selected readings about Savannah’s Civil Rights Movement. They accompany other docents on guided tours to gain knowledge and skills in leading tours of museum guests. * Docents conduct guided tours of the Museum for groups of students and adults. They are encouraged to use the technique of dialogue and inquiry while encouraging guests to explore the Museum’s exhibits. They will touch on Exhibit topics like the Levy’s Department Store Boycott or the NAACP organization area. * Docents must be enthusiastic and willing to learn. They should have an interest in working with people, especially students and large groups of people. * Docents would ideally have experience or education in history/political science however not required. * Docents will acquire teaching skills, gain understanding of the purpose and activities of the Museum, have access to resource publications, lesson plans, and background materials on the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum and exhibits. * To advance the educational mission of the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum by conducting tours and providing educational programs in the Museum’s 2nd floor classrooms for the general public (children, adults, families). * Docents assist in the development of the educational programs and conduct special activities for students, adults and families. Job Type: Part-time -25 hours per week Schedule: * 5-7 hour shift * Day shift * Must have Weekend availability
