Atlanta History Center is looking for two (2) highly motivated and hardworking individuals to fill the temporary part-time roles of Project Archivist.
Responsible for process collections of personal papers and organizational records. The position requires analyzing, arranging, describing, and rehousing textual records and creating finding aids using ArchivesSpace.
This position is ideal for graduate students or professional archivists with some experience processing medium-sized archival collections. Candidates must be able to work 25-28 hours per week.
$20/per hourResponsibilities• Physically handle archival materials according to departmental procedures• Review collection materials for intellectual content and preservation issues• Physically arrange and rehouse materials in archival enclosures• Create narrative summaries and descriptive information for collection materials according to departmental policies and according to Describing Archives: A Content Standard (DACS) and other archival best practices• Participate in Description and Access Committee meetings to review completed finding aids
Qualifications• Must have experience processing small to medium sized collections of textual records• Experience using ArchivesSpace preferred• Ability to lift and/or shift up to 40 lbs.• MA, MLIS, or MHS completed or in progressBackground Check Requirements• Satisfactory criminal background check required.• Satisfactory financial background check required.
